Motorcycles & God’s Guidance

Road going slightly uphill. Lined with pine trees. Canopy of trees covering road.

While in Oregon House, California, we have been using our motorcycles to tour the beautiful countryside. It’s somewhat like going out for a “Sunday afternoon drive,” only different.

Road lined by trees and pine cones on the ground Small green bushes under the trees Trees creating canopy over the road

As I follow Ken down the windy, tree lined road, I hear his voice in my ear, giving me instructions, “Watch for deer, downshift for the huge hill, big curve coming up, one lane bridge ahead…”

Ken’s guidance is important. His instructions could prove lifesaving. They also give me confidence for future challenges.

Road curving to the left. Brown grass lining edge of road. Tall pine trees lining the edge of the road.

I now understand how to lean into a curve, and the use of gears on an incline or descent. And, because I am following, I don’t have to worry about taking a wrong turn.  In the same way, when I let God lead and I follow, I learn from Him.

He whispers instructions in my ear, “Watch out for the deceiver. Trust me for I can see around the curve. Have faith in me, I am with you. You can climb this hill one step at a time.”

Road curving to the right. Some logs laying beside the road. Mailbox and driveway on the right. Tall pine trees lining the road.

With every moment I follow, my faith increases. Afterall, God’s guidance is lifesaving. And I know I can lean into Him for all issues that come my way. Hey, I can feel calm even when faced with scary things, like the price of gas in California!

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Psalms 119:105 NASB1995

Everywhere I go, I enjoy camping with Jesus—on the road and in life.
Enjoy your journey, and feel free to reach out.

Staying at Lake of the Springs – Oregon House, CA

Oregon House sits in a peaceful country setting surrounded by rolling hills, tall trees, and plenty of mule deer. We stayed at Lake of the Springs Thousand Trails, which offers a wide variety of campsites and amenities.

Site Options:

Lake of the Springs has a handful of full-hookup sites, but these tend to be smaller and are almost always located near the bathhouses. They book up quickly, so plan ahead.

Other sites throughout the park vary widely—large or small, sunny or shaded, tucked away with privacy or perched out in the open. Thousand Trails has recently shifted to assigned sites, but you can call the ranger station after booking and request a different site if you have a preference. They’re very accommodating when availability allows.

Amenities:

This campground has plenty to enjoy during your stay, including:

  • Swimming pool
  • Tennis courts
  • Playgrounds
  • Shuffleboard
  • Miniature golf
  • A sandy lakeside beach
  • A dog-friendly beach
  • Fishing
  • Small boat rentals

Just be aware that the lake operates under a no-wake policy, which keeps things quiet and peaceful.

Shopping & Supplies:

There are a few small local stores nearby, perfect for quick essentials. For major groceries or a larger selection, plan on driving about 45 minutes to reach the bigger towns.

Wherever the road leads us, I’m always camping with Jesus. Enjoy your journey — and let me hear from you.
